In 1863, Geraldus Johannes Droste’s confectioner’s shop and bakery opened its doors to the public in Haarlem. Here, customers can order chocolate drinks made with water and a variety of sweets are sold, including the “chocolate pastilles” that he invented.
Since then, a lot has changed in the chocolate industry. New technologies have made the industry more efficient. Droste has remained faithful to its special recipe and its conventional chocolate production process. Droste is the only company in the Netherlands that makes and processes its own chocolate, resulting in a unique flavor.
Over the years, Droste has developed into a very well-known international brand, with various artisanal chocolate products, such as the renowned pastilles and cocoa powder. Nowadays, the chocolate products are still being produced in Vaassen, with as much love and attention as in previous times. Hence, we still adhere to our special flavor, which is the real taste of real chocolate.
